month eight

Energetic. Intense. Giggly. Happy. Tough.
Eight months, sweet boy, how can it be? I think this picture captures your personality perfectly. You are so excited and happy because your three biggest cheerleaders are trying to make you smile in the distance. You are so energetic. Those hands and feet are constantly on the move. As soon as this picture was taken, you were trying to crawl off the bed. You are still intense. Since day one, you have been set in your ways. You have the best giggles and can't stop once you get started. You are so happy and love to smile. All. The. Time. You are tough. You get knocked around and bumped a lot while sister is playing with you. You just roll with it. We are so thankful for the joy you bring our family.

At eight months,
you weigh 19 pounds
you measure 29 inches
you have four teeth
you sleep 10 hours at night
you love to eat
you are constantly moving

month seven

I can't help but smile, when I see this precious face. I think his smile gets bigger every month, and I love it. This month he just laughed through our photo shoot, and I wish you could have heard him. He has a great laugh. I could eat him up I love him so! Sweet baby boy, you are growing too fast and time is flying. May your smile be contagious and your spirit always kind.

So, I have another song I want to share this month. The lyrics are very simple, but the message is very powerful. I can't get them out of my head. I've been singing this nonstop for the past two days. Most days when I sing, Miriam tells me to stop (ha!), but surprisingly she has not said that once. I can't wait to watch your wild adventure, little one!

Come Away by Jesus Culture
Come away with me
Come away with me
It's never too late
It's not too late
It's not too late for you

I have a plan for you
I have a plan for you
It's gonna be wild
It's gonna be great
It's gonna be full of me

Open up your heart and let me in

At seven months, you...
weigh 18 pounds
measure 28 inches
have three teeth
pull up & get into everything
scream while eating
sleep 10-11 hours at night

the sun and the sand and family is grand

Thanks to these wonderful parents the whole family spent a week at the beach following my cousin's wedding. Miriam was in heaven getting to spend so much time with her cousins. She would wake up, at the crack of dawn, and ask if she could play with her cousins. However, she was always a little disappointed to find out they were still sleeping. We all had fun playing in the sand, swimming in the pool, playing hide and seek as well as other games in the condo, and being together. Thanks Gran & Granddaddy for a wonderful week & fun memories!!

Only  4 months a part, these two are bound to be BFFs

Swimming at the pool
Eliana & Latham preferred the pool over the beach

Miriam & Latham had fun dancing on our last night at Cosmo's

We cooked at the condo for most of our meals, because it's just chaos to take this many people anywhere. Thanks to Gran & Granddaddy for keeping the kids one night so the adults could have a nice dinner out.

month six

That face. His smile.
Melts this mommy's heart.

Six months. Once again, it's hard to believe this sweet baby is half way to one. I could just sit and stare at that precious face all day long. We've come a long way baby, and I'm so thankful for the joy you bring our family.

You are strong. Once you grab on to something, you don't want to let go. It's a wrestling match to pry things out of your hands. I pray you use your strength as a gentle giant, not a bully, to build others up.
You are intense. From day one, you have been this way, and you don't stop until you've accomplished your goal. I pray you use your determined spirit to fight for what's right in this world.
You are excited. I think one reason I love your smile and happy demeanor so much is because of the struggle we had in the beginning. I pray you always use your big smile and bright personality to bring joy to others.

One of my favorite songs, right now, is Hillsong's Came To My Rescue. May you always remember to call out to our mighty Father, knowing he will answer you, and that he will come to your rescue.
Falling on my knees in worship
Giving all I am to seek Your face
Lord, all I am is Yours
My whole life, I place in Your hands
God of Mercy, humbled I bow down
In Your presence at Your throne
I called, You answered
And You came to my rescue and I
I wanna be where You are
In my life, be lifted high
In our world, be lifted high
In our love, be lifted high

At six months, you...
weigh 16 pounds 4 ounces
measure 27 3/4 inches
sit up on your own
chew on everything
never want to be still
sleep 10 hours at night

because I'm happy...

It might seem crazy what I'm about to say...
this sweet baby is happy!!

In the world of social media, it's easy to post pictures of the best things from your day, which leads people to think you have the perfect life. I know I fall victim to this more than I would like to admit. However, I tried to be real and honest with people when they would ask about Gavin's demeanor. It was a tough four months. He was not a happy baby. He wanted me the majority of the time, okay all the time, and he wanted to be held. He was fussy. He screamed a lot. He had to be rocked to sleep. It was exhausting!

Well, we don't know what changed, but we're not complaining. We have seen a huge difference between months four and five, and we are so thankful. Our once fussy baby is now smiling all the time. I am no longer the one he must be attached to the hip with 24/7. Now he is only unhappy when he's tired or trying to crawl (watch out world, he's a mover). He also goes down to sleep without being rocked. A world of difference in one short month because he's happy. And let me tell you, his smile will melt you into a thousand pieces.

At five months, you...
weigh 16 pounds
measure 27 inches
have two teeth
sleep 8-10 hours at night
want to crawl so bad, mastered the army crawl

life is good today

Life was good last week.
We just returned from our family trip to Destin, and it was a wonderful week. Something we all needed. We enjoyed relaxing (as much as you can with two small children), playing in the sand, swimming in the pool, and eating at some of our favorite restaurants. Miriam liked "burying" her Daddy in the sand, but her favorite was playing in the pool. She would ask to "play pool" as soon as she woke up every morning. Gavin is finally turning a corner with his fussiness. He had a great week! He loved napping on Mommy at the beach and playing in his exersaucer outside.

four letter words

Well, it only took 4 months...
Sorry little love, second child problems are setting in. We let the month come and go without getting a complete photo shoot of you. I know you were utterly disappointed that you didn't have to pose naked in a basket or try your hardest to sit up for hours upon hours until Mommy declared we had the perfect shot. I apologize for letting you down.  #fail

No worries I know you forgive me, and the best news is there's always next month. I will do my best to make all of your wishes come true. More pictures to document your growth all while trying to keep you from spitting up everywhere and your sister from being jealous she's not in every picture. Always be a dreamer, my love, always.  #wish

Speaking of your sister, please don't compare the number of pictures we have of her with the ones we have of you. I admit...it's not the same. It's not because we love her more. It's because life is busy with two kids, and that's just the facts. You are loved way more than you will ever know. Just believe me on that truth.  #love

It's hard to believe you have already been with us for four months. It's hard to imagine life without you. You are a special little boy, and we are so thankful for you. Right now, I love watching you interact with your sister. You light up when you see her or when she gets in your face and talks to you. And, never doubt her love for you. It's fierce. She always wants to know where you are and what you're doing. She loves being a little mama to you. I can't wait to watch your relationship grow and develop. It's going to be special.  #four

At four months, you...
weigh 14 pounds 7 ounces
measure 26 3/8 inches
roll all over the place
chew on everything, teething has begun
sleep 8 hours at night

one, two, three

Three things I'm thankful for this month...

1. MEDICINE
Thank you Lord that Gavin's reflux medicine helped! Our little man dropped from the 80% in weight to the 25% in one month. That on top of his constant fussiness prompted our doctor to start him on some medicine. After one month, he jumped back up to the 35% in weight and his fussiness is improving. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

2. SUNSHINE
Little Miss loves to be outside, so we are thankful that the warmer temperatures and sunshine are back. It's amazing what a little sunshine and playing outside can do for the soul. Gavin loves being outside too. He's content on a blanket while sister prefers to run, play hide and seek, or color with chalk. Thank you Lord for your beautiful creation and the joy sunshine brings to all!

3. CRAIG
Gavin has not been an easy baby, and Miriam has been a typical 2 year old most days. So as you can imagine, I have been a little stressed and overwhelmed. I am so thankful for Craig, and that I don't have to do this parenting thing alone. He has been my constant support and helper. He has insisted on watching the kids so I can just get out of the house at times. Thank you Lord for providing an understanding husband with a kind spirit and servant heart.

At three months, you...
weigh 13 pounds
measure 25 inches
love to suck on your hands
squirm & move constantly
sleep 6-8 hours at night

twice as nice

His two little hands are always in his mouth, and his two little feet love to kick and squirm. His two little eyes are constantly watching big sister, and his two little ears are told time and time again how much he is loved. TWO. MONTHS.

Her two little hands are constantly moving while she talks, and her two little feet love to run and spin in circles. Her two little eyes constantly watch Minnie, puppies, or Lella, and her two little ears are told over and over again what a miracle she is. TWO. YEARS.

My two hands are never free, but I wouldn't trade the cuddles or tickles or constant movement for anything. My two feet are busy chasing one around the house and doing whatever it takes to keep the other one from screaming. My two eyes are amazed at the love I witness every day between a brother and a sister. My two ears are reminded daily how blessed I am to be the mother of these two children. Twice the fun. Twice the stress. Twice the love. Twice the crazy. THIRTY-TWO. YEARS.

At two months, you...
weigh 11 pounds & 5 ounces
measure 24 1/8 inches
started reflux medicine
have great head control
love time on your play mat
sleep 6-8 hours at night
